Roger Federer laid his hand on a trophy for only the first time this year with a resounding victory of Grand Slam final newbie, Andy Murray. The scoreline tells the story, 6-2 7-5 6-2. Murray didn't stand a chance. Even with the entire Scottish fan-base rooting for their own, his overcoming the number one the previous day and a nagging knee problem combined with an excellent display from the defending US Open champ.
Federer made it seem easy. Though many of the A-List celebrities may have gone for the underdog, Federer remained undeterred as he made it clear he was no push-over no matter how the year had been for him so far!!!
Up Federer. He seems all but ready to continue rewriting the history books. One win away from equally Pete Sampras' 14 grand slams in the Open era, his dazzling form portrays his readiness to keep at this for a while.
Watch out Nadal. The number one spot is in the market . . .
